Peter Wegner is a Melbourne figurative painter, sculptor, and draughtsman. Peter has famously painted his friend Graeme Doyle hundreds of times over their 30-year friendship. He has held solo exhibitions in Sydney and Melbourne and his work has been included in group exhibitions including at the Art Gallery of New South Wales Sydney, the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, and the National Portrait Gallery in London. Peter’s awards include the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize in 2006 the Gallipoli Prize in 2013 and his work is held in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery Canberra, Art Gallery of New South Wales, the State Library of Victoria Melbourne, and several regional and tertiary Gallerie

Recent drawing projects have been exploring the human condition. This has lead to the development of a series of portraits of The Rats of Tobruk and another on people who have reach One Hundred Years Old. The Centenarian Project.
